Subject: Installation question.
Hi Lou, received my strong arms last week and plan to install this Friday. My question is. I have a 2004 wildcat 5TH WHEEL. Can’t FIND A CROSS BRACE ON REAR AND WAS WONDERING IF i COULD MOUNT TO REAR BUMPER OR SHOULD i HAVE A CROSS BEAM OF CHANNEL WELDED BETWEEN THE MAIN FRON TO BACK BEAM. Have ACCESS TO WELDER TO DO IF NECESSARY. Just WONDERING IF BUMPER IS STRONG ENOUGH, Thanks in advance for a speedy reply.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your inquiry. Negative on attaching to the bumper. That is a big NO (and this was capitalized on purpose!) In some instances, it is necessary to add a cross brace when none are available and it sounds like this is one of those situations. Be sure that the distance between the rear jack and the cross member you add is no greater than 18 inches. Ideally you want the jack stabilizer to be as close to 90 degrees relative to the side chassis members as possible. Remember, the rear stabilizers are designed to eliminate the side to side movement in the rear of the rig. Our first material of choice for your cross beam would be a two inch by three inch rectangular tubing. Cut the ends at 45 degrees just like the zinc-plated spacer mounts are configured. Then simply bolt the cross member to the chassis. If you do have access to a welder you could certainly go that route. Paint it black and make it look pretty! Have your family hand you the tools and a cool adult beverage and you will be good to go!
Regards,
Lou

So basically, if the stabilizer is mounted to a cross beam that is perpendicular to the scissor jack that would be the ideal scenario? (i.e. Mount the beam going from jack on one side to jack on the other or as close as possible) If I can accomplish the install I will be your best testimonial as I am a caterer and can relate to knives, forks, spoons and pots. Thanks for the quick response last night and I appreciate your patience........Steve

Hey Lou,
Just completed the install on my 30 ft. Wildcat. Unbelievable how "ROCK STEADY" these devices are. Just looking at them you wouldn't think that they could possibly do what they do .....that is until you study the principle. Got in camper afterwards and tried to make it move and couldn't. Very pleased. Now I can apply all my stress to something else as it was not at all necessary for this project. Had 2 buddies help me (actually did it for me) and I treated them to a lunch of Bronzed Catfish topped w/ a lemon cream sauce. Thanks again for all the support.
